As I walked outside this morning, I was expecting a rude awakening from the frigid cold air that we have recently been having. To my surprise it was warm enough to disregard wearing gloves or even extra layers. It was a perfect day to go out and shoot. I found myself at Minneapolis' City of the Lakes Loppet.

I aint smokin', I'm breathin'.
I got home this Saturday to a cold house. I guess the furnace broke last week and they haven't fixed it yet. Me and B have made base in my room with a heater. We found that if we plugged in two heaters a fuse blows. Tonight it is 1 degree in Minneapolis.
The thermometer in our house says it's 40 degrees. For a comparison, I put the thermometer in the fridge for 10 minutes. I think it's warmer in the fridge than in our house.
We can see our breath everywhere in our house. Our landlord hasn't called me back yet and the furnace has been broken for a few days. I guess some people have been working on it so I hope it gets fixed soon. This makes me want to live in the lower half of the country.

Tempe Bound - Because it might snow...
So, today we left Denver after a wonderful breakfast provided by the family we stayed with. Of course, right away I fell asleep for a few hours while Trevor took the wheel. I woke up somewhere around northern Colorado when we stopped at a Sinclair gas station. The two had their picture taken with the dinosaur.
The rest of Denver and all of Nebraska was boring. A lot of the locals were out on the lakes ice fishing, despite the fact that it was more than 60 degrees outside.
After we got to Omaha, we went to the long-awaited Chipotle to wait for Paul to return our calls. We later found out that Paul wasn't even in the state. (Oh Paul!) Austin still ended up going to Paul's house and got some hospitality from Paul's mom. We dropped off Trevor at a show his friend was playing at the Rox in Omaha.
After those two were taken care of I got back on the road and drove the last 7 hours of our road trip.
I learned a few things while coming back:
1. Gas stations in Iowa suck and the people there are mean and take forever
2. Don't have Chipolte if your going to be in a car for more than 7 hours
3. Minnesota is cold.
Playlist for the car:
Bon Iver
Circa Survive
TV on the Radio
The Mountain Goats
Motion City Soundtrack

Tempe Bound - No longer Tempe bound... infact, the opposite
So we left for Denver at around 10 a.m. this morning after our long night of bringing in 2009. I fell asleep in the car almost immediately after we started driving. I know I already put up a bunch of sunset and mountain pictures, but when you're in the car for over 13 hours you don' have anything better to do.
We made it to Denver safe. Tomorrow morning we're having breakfast with our host family and then we're off to Omaha to see Paul again.
